EUROSAI ITWG e-seminar "SAIs and the Digital Turn: Developing IT skills and IT audit capacity"

On 12 November 2020, a webinar on the challenges posed to the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) due to the digital transformation was organised by the EUROSAI Working Group operating in the field of auditing of information systems (ITWG).

The participants of the e-seminar had an opportunity to view and listen to the presentations of representatives of different SAIs on the information technology being an indispensable tool when implementing regularity and performance audits, as well as audits of financial statements. Pertaining to the concerned matter, they also took part in the workshop and round-table discussion on acquiring and developing IT skills and competences of auditors and on the importance of strengthening the role of audit institutions in the IT field.

The chairmanship of the IT Working Group was this year taken over by the SAI Estonia which hosted this online event with more than 130 attendees from several European SAIs and many experts from various countries shared their knowledge. At the end of the e-seminar, a panel discussion about developing IT audit capacity was held.

The panel discussion, which was led by Janar Holm, the current Chair of EUROSAI ITWG/Auditor General of SAI Estonia, was joined by (from left to right): Tytti Yli-Viikari, Auditor General of SAI Finlad, dr. Miroslav Kranjc, Supreme State Auditor of SAI Slovenia, and Mindaugas Macijauskas, Auditor General of SAI Lithuania.
