Between 18 and 19 September 2023, upon the invitation of the President of the Court of Audit Jana Ahčin, the Chair of the Senate of the Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) of Montenegro Nikola N. Kovačević came to the official bilateral visit held in Slovenia. The meeting offered an opportunity for the exchange of experience and the discussion about key issues faced by supreme audit institutions when carrying out control over public money.
The key topics of the discussions of the delegations included experiences from the field of auditing political parties and election campaigns. The participants also paid attention to the experiences related to the audits of the local self-government in both countries and exchanged their views and practices. Guests from SAI Montenegro were presented the implementation the audit of the proposal of the annual financial statement of the budget of the Republic Slovenia 2022. In the concluding discussion, the participants considered the audit impacts and ways of bringing audit work closer to the public.
The visit of the SAI Montenegro Chair of the Senate established solid foundations for further cooperation between the institutions, since both SAIs expressed an interest in cooperation and exchange of best practice in future.
