The Court of Audit at the conference organised by SAI Montenegro and SIGMA concerning audit of the state budget accounts

The Supreme Audit Institution of Montenegro in cooperation with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and EU SIGMA organised a conference on Auditing final state budget accounts.

The conference was organised within the Network of Supreme Audit Institutions of Candidate and Potential Candidate Countries, with many representatives of Supreme Audit Institutions participating, among them from SAIs of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Moldova, Northern Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine and experts from SAIs Croatia and Slovenia. Also, representatives of the ministries of finance were actively engaged. At the conference the impact of the SAI’s audits of the state budget accounts was pointed out, namely how to increase responsibility and transparency in managing public funds with the stress on the assessment of the financial effectiveness of the state.

The Court of Audit was represented by Deputy Supreme State Auditor mag. Nadja Rashwan, who on 28 February 2024 actively participated in panel discussion with Auditor General of SAI Bosnia and Herzegovina Hrvoje Tvrtković and Auditor General of SAI Northern Macedonia mag. Maksim Acevski and acting Director General of the Treasury Directorate at the Ministry of Finance of Montenegro Dragan Darmanović. They discussed the issue of increasing the efficiency and benefits of audits of state budget accounts. On Thursday, 29 February 2024, Mrs Rashwan presented Slovenian experiences in implementing audits of the financial statements of the state budget, focusing on the aspects of proposing recommendations and corrective measures to the auditees in order to achieve the desired impacts of the implemented audits.
