On 28 and 29 January 2025 at the headquarters of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris, there was a meeting of heads of supreme audit institutions and OECD candidate countries which also saw the participation of the President of the Court of Audit Jana Ahčin with her delegation.
The delegates discussed the role of supreme audit institutions, namely being independent, adaptable and innovative, and the efficient use of public funds. Gene Dodaro, Comptroller General of the United States, in his conversation with Elsa Pilichowski, Director for Public Governance at the OECD, pointed out the importance of supreme audit institutions' ability to adapt when facing challenges such as artificial intelligence and fiscal sustainability. Considerable attention was paid to the functions that audit institutions have in raising awareness and enhancing public trust, as well as in promoting and facilitating sustainable development. The keynote lecture on financial stability was held by Pierre Moscovici, First President of Supreme Audit Institution of France.
The meeting closed with a discussion on the future of public sector audits and the importance of adjusting audit practices to new challenges. Several bilateral discussions where the President of Slovenian Court of Audit shared her experience and best practice with heads of other supreme audit institutions were held in the margins of the meeting.
