President of the Court of Audit Igor Šoltes attended the three-day official visit to the Russian Federation at the invitation of the Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša.
In the framework of the visit President Šoltes signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the President Sergey V. Stepashin on cooperation between the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation and the Court of Audit of the Republic of Slovenia. The main objective of the Memorandum is the improvement of efficiency of interaction between the both institutions. In order to implement this objection the following principal directions of interaction were adopted:
- exchange of experience in order to improve methodologies of state audit;
- cooperation in the sphere of professional training and improvement of professional standards of personnel;
- exchange of information and documentation on the professional activities of the two Supreme Audit Institutions;
- organisation of joint research projects and audits.
Presidents Šoltes and Stepashin also agreed on developing cooperation on both a bilateral basis as well as within the framework of the INTOSAI and EUROSAI.
