Presentation of the audit report Effectiveness in reducing poverty at the conference Welfare State and Poverty

On 23 January 2023, the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana held the conference Welfare State and Poverty at which the authors of contributions published in the monograph with the same title pointed out the problem of poverty and social excision and possible ways to reduce poverty. As part of the conference the audit report of the Court of Audit – Effectiveness in reducing poverty was presented. Similar topic, however, is addressed by the article Planning and monitoring of poverty reduction from the previously mentioned monograph.

Although poverty statistics differ among countries, there are some basic common features, namely poverty affects human dignity, one’s personal development, and one’s personal and professional reputation. At today’s stage of development, in the 21st century, no social system has the capacity to eradicate poverty no matter the developed or the developing countries. This applies also to Slovenia.

The monograph titled Welfare State and Poverty was issued by the University of Maribor Press. It focuses on the unresolved issue of poverty and social exclusion. Various contributions from the field of law, economy, social sciences and other areas confirm that poverty and social exclusion are multifaceted and complex notions with their levels depending on the territory in a specific country or globally. The monograph includes an analysis of the current situation and possible solutions to different problems arising from poverty and social exclusion. Yet, the emphasis is on finding suitable solutions for reducing poverty in Slovenia.
