INTOSAI Supervisory Committee on Emerging Issues COVID-19 Expert Group discussed strategic role of SAIs and remote auditing

The International Organisation of the Supreme Audit Institutions Supervisory Committee on Emerging Issues (INTOSAI SCEI) set up the Expert Group on COVID-19. The SCEI Expert Group webinars enable professionals from over 70 Supreme Audit Institutions from all over the World, including Slovenian Court of Audit, to share experience and discuss priorities of SAIs during the pandemic, also covering audit themes, methods and techniques. Such form of multilateral professional cooperation adds value to the existing activities and provides exchange of knowledge and experience SAIs need to be better equipped when facing similar challenges in the future.

Highlights form the presentation at the INTOSAI SCEI Expert Group seminar

The kick-off meeting of the COVID-19 Expert Group was attended by more than 200 participants, among them there were also heads of SAI Chile, Spain, the United Arab Emirates and the USA as well as representatives from South Africa and the United Kingdom, who stressed different response to COVID-19 Pandemic, regional perspectives thereto and their own experience. At the second SCEI Expert Group session, the representatives of Supreme Audit Institutions of the United Kingdom, the USA, Indonesia, Peru, France and Russia focussed particularly on technological solutions and challenges of remote auditing.

Already undertaken and upcoming discussions of the COVID-19 Expert Group and common experience will result in recommendations that will help all SAIs in need of support right now, as well as make SAIs more resilient when faced with similar challenges in the future. Activity report of the Expert Group shall be presented at the 74th INTOSAI Governing Board meeting that is foreseen in November 2020.
