Exhibition of a piece of art by the ALUO student Ana Ščuka

On 10 June 2021, the 2nd presentation of artwork by the students of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design (ALUO) of the University of Ljubljana took place in the foyer of the Court of Audit. Ana Ščuka, a student of applied arts, thus exhibited her ceramic sculpture called Burjafon.

The President of the Court of Audit, Tomaž Vesel, expressed his satisfaction for this successful cooperation with the ALUO. The recent artistic sculpture is already the second piece of art exhibited in the foyer of the Court of Audit. Dean and associate professor at the ALUO, mag. Lucija Močnik Ramovš, thanked for the cooperation and stressed the importance of such events for the ALUO students and their mentors.

Ms Ščuka’s mentor and assistant professor at the ALUO, mag. Jurij Smole, described the process of work, which combines practical and theoretical interdisciplinary skills, leading to the final artistic result such as Burjafon. The author Ana Ščuka, who is in the 3rd year of studies, explained the inspiration behind her artwork, deriving from karst natural phenomena. The sculpture is actually a casting of a real speleothem. In addition to studying Slovenian karst landscape and its characteristics, Ana Ščuka is interested also in the field of acoustic art and thus endeavours to incorporate the elements of music acoustic in her artistic expression, namely framing an experiment through the media of ceramic and sound.
