In its continued efforts to facilitate a stronger uptake of SAI PMF responsibilities at the regional level, the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) conducted a SAI PMF Advanced Training Workshop in Istanbul, Turkey from 2 to 6 June 2025. The training was attended by 24 participants from 14 countries in EUROSAI and 2 participants from AFROSAI-E who took advantage to attend and learn more about the SAI PMF methodology.
On behalf of the Court of Audit of the Republic of Slovenia, Supreme State Auditor Jerneja Vrabič took part in the workshop, this standing as testimony of the Court of Audit's commitment to ongoing improvements and progress in carrying out its audit mandate.
The training was envisaged in the SAI PMF Implementation Strategy 2023–2025 which acknowledges stronger regional participation as a key success factor in the global implementation of SAI PMF.
The SAI PMF Advanced training workshop had the following two specific objectives:
- to further strengthen the SAI PMF capacity of the EUROSAI region by empowering SAI staff with extensive knowledge about the SAI PMF methodology and its application;
- to expand the pool of SAI PMF independent reviewers in EUROSAI who could participate in reviewing SAI PMF draft reports as in-kind support to IDI.
The workshop covered the basics of SAI PMF and other key topics such as root cause analysis and integrated assessment, report writing, quality management process, methodology for conducting a repeat assessment and publication and sharing assessment results. The highlights of new developments in SAI PMF implementation since the adoption of the framework in December 2016 were also covered, including constant improvements to the framework leading to the launch of new versions of the SAI PMF tool.
