On 24 and 25 September 2018, the Austrian Ombudsman Board and the Austrian Court of Audit organised the symposium: how can state bodies contribute to improving the citizens’ quality of life. The role of the supreme audit institutions and Ombudsman was pointed out, since they are independent bodies whose work can significantly impact proper functioning of the state bodies and consequently affect lives of the citizens and meet their needs. The purpose of the meeting was to address the topics important to citizens (digitalisation of administrative procedures, responsibility of the public servants) and to exchange practices of bringing citizens closer to the administration.
