As part of the study visit to Slovenia, the Court of Audit of the Republic of Slovenia hosted a delegation of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) on 21 May 2025. The WFD delegation, consisting of senior political figures, elected officials from the parliamentary assemblies, cantonal, and local governments in BiH, was led by Country Director Nermina Voloder.
The visit went hand in hand with the WFD’s endeavours to strengthen political integrity in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a special emphasis on promoting transparency and accountability in public spending.
The President of the Court of Audit of the Republic of Slovenia, Jana Ahčin, presented the mission, tasks, and constitutional position of the Court of Audit to all gathered parties. Ms Ahčin and her colleagues further focused on the topics of considerable interest among the members of the delegation and provided answers to their questions.
Secretary of the Court of Audit of the Republic of Slovenia, Tadeja Pušnar, presented the aspects of the SAI’s independence, both in the field of finance and in performing its tasks and activities. Advisor to the President and Head of IT Strategy Department, dr. Tomaž Kralj, outlined the risk register system and the audit planning process. Supreme State Auditor, Helena Jenko, introduced the audit of the proposal of the annual financial statement of the budget of the Republic of Slovenia and experiences of the Court of Audit with participatory budgeting. During discussion, Advisor to the Deputy President, dr. Peter Premrl, explained the content of audits of political parties and election campaigns.
The visit enabled a valuable exchange of best practice and stressed the essential role of independent supervisory institutions in strengthening democratic governance and budget transparency.
