During this year's European Court of Auditors' (ECA) Training Days the visual communication Audit Fair took place. The Slovenian Court of Audit was again among the three invited Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) which on 18 October 2023, besides the ECA, shared their knowledge and experience in the concerned field. First, the ECA representative described a transformative effect of visual communication on audit reports, pointed out the role of visual communication designers and presented successful case studies. Then followed the presentations of out-of-ECA examples of good practice provided by the experts from SAIs of Belgium, the Netherlands and Slovenia.
The SAI Slovenia prepared the presentation titled From audits to infographics: a roadmap to public awareness, in which dr. Tomaž Kralj, Head of IT Strategy, Analytics and IT Service Management Office, explained the process of creating an infographic, which consists of several steps. The most important step is the preparation of a summary and the identification of stories that will display our message through the infographics. Several stakeholders participate in the process, each with a specific role and responsibility. The Slovenian presentation was concluded by Boštjan Novak, Advisor in the Cabinet of the President, who emphasised two aspects. Firstly, the importance of ensuring that our messages and key audit findings reach the public, and secondly, the quality of the audit reports and the effectiveness of the changes implemented as a result.
