EURORAI Seminar on Audit of companies owned by local authorities, Hungary

State Audit Office of Hungary organised EURORAI Seminar on Audit of companies owned by local authorities that took place from 17 to 20 October 2018. EURORAI is the European Organisation of Regional External Public Finance Audit Institutions which aims to strengthen the cooperation among public sector audit institutions in Europe providing an exchange of experience and knowledge. 

Seminar was attended by 150 participants from more than 20 countries. Many regional supreme audit institutions took part in the seminar, since they are authorised to audit any local community, such as a city, a canton or a region. 

Seminar was structured as a series of presentations pertaining to experiences of auditing companies owned by local authorities. The representatives of the Court of Audit actively participated in debates concerning the dilemma in audit subject. Despite different legal bases, the supreme audit institutions shared many related points, i.e. confidentiality of data, activities that are allowed to be undertaken by those companies, receipts of the management, issues arising from implementing public procurement procedures and similar.
