Association of Municipalities and Towns of Slovenia organised the third regular meeting of majors on 17 January 2023. The meeting was attended by more than 120 majors, deputy majors and directors of municipal administrations.
The event covered several topics from the field of municipal powers and responsibilities, communication and cooperation, municipal budget and public utility service of environmental protection. The role of the Court of Audit with regard to municipal public finance was presented by the Second Deputy President mag. Mojca Planinšek and the Supreme State Auditor mag. Simona Majer, namely they introduced the audit activities in the field of local self-government, implemented audits, most frequent irregularities disclosed in the 2022 issued audit reports on regularity of municipal operations, findings of the 2022 cross-sectional audits (assigned revenue and consultancy services), and other still relevant audit findings. They also participated in the discussion, thereby sharing and exchanging their viewpoints on the concerned topics with other participants.
