In 2018, the Court of Audit assumed its role of the host country of the V4+2 meeting (Visegrad Group (V4) countries, Austria and Slovenia) and thus organised the 26th annual meeting which was attended by President of SAI Poland, Krzysztof Kwiatkowski, President of SAI Czech Republic, Miloslav Kala, President of SAI Hungary, László Domokos, General Director of Audit Section of SAI Slovakia, Lubica Gazdova, President of SAI Austria, Dr. Margit Kraker, and President of SAI Slovenia, Tomaž Vesel.
By presenting the audit report Efficiency of long-term drinking water resources conservation, the Court of Audit actively participated in the discussion and explained its views on the proposed respectively planned activities concerning the cooperation among the V4+2 countries.
The meeting took place on 26 June 2019 at the SAI Poland headquarters in Warsaw, along with the regular annual meeting of the Contact Committee of the Supreme Audit Institutions of the EU member countries, candidate member countries, potential candidate countries and observer countries. The main topic of the meeting, chaired by the President of Slovenian Court of Audit, Tomaž Vesel, were the specifics pertaining to the powers of SAIs within the framework of the V4+2 Group and the exchange of best practices aimed at bringing about and introducing changes on the basis of SAIs’ findings. An important part of the meeting was also a discussion on the purpose and format of the V4+2 meeting in future and on the role of potential observer countries respectively guest participants regarding possible expansion of the Group and meetings of experts.
The Heads of delegations also took this occasion to lay wreaths at the monument of John III Sobieski, King of Poland. The meeting of the Heads of SAIs of the V4+2 countries is an excellent opportunity for strengthening cooperation among SAIs in the Group, for bilateral talks and for increasing the visibility of our SAI and its work.
