On the occasion of the 35th anniversary since 25 June was declared Statehood Day, a formal sitting of the National Assembly was held to which all prominent representatives of State institutions, including the Court of Audit of the Republic of Slovenia, were invited. The President of the Court of Audit Jana Ahčin also attended the State ceremony held in Republic Square, Ljubljana, with President of the Republic of Slovenia dr. Nataša Pirc Musar and Prime Minister Janez Janša the keynote speakers.
The President of the Republic pointed out in her speech that in thirty-five years Slovenia has achieved a great deal, yet the goal of building up a connected, united community is still being pursued. She continued that respecting constitutional values, reconciliation, functioning of the system of checks and balances, high-quality public services and protecting the dignity of everyone are key to further development of the community. Moreover, Prime Minister Janez Janša emphasised the significance of independence and efforts of the Slovenian nation for an independent state. He stressed in this regard that the Slovenian nation must keep in mind and always well remember those efforts together with endeavours of individuals and organisations who were the main players in achieving the concerned goal. He also pointed out the importance of cooperation which, he believes, is crucial to attain common objectives to the benefit of the Slovenian state.
