GRECO evaluation visit in Slovenia

In the week between 25 and 28 November 2025, the delegation of the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) performed an evaluation procedure of Slovenia during its on-site visit to the country. The 6th evaluation round is aimed at preventing corruption and promoting integrity at local level. In Slovenia, the GRECO delegation evaluated the Municipality of Ljubljana and the Municipality of Hrastnik.

For this purpose, the delegation conducted interviews and meetings with different stakeholders, namely representatives of state bodies, local authorities, civil society and the media. On behalf of the Court of Audit of the Republic of Slovenia, which is one of most important stakeholders, Mr Zoran Mladenovič, Advisor to the President, attended one such meeting on 25 November 2025. Additionally, representatives of the Information Commissioner and the Advocate of the Principle of Equality were also among the participants. The 6th evaluation round addressed several key areas, among others: structure and competencies of national and sub-national authorities, applicability of integrity policies to sub-national authorities, control mechanisms, transparency and public participation.

GRECO is the Council of Europe anti-corruption body monitoring the compliance of its members with Council of Europe anti-corruption standards. The evaluations are carried out regularly every five to six years with every evaluation focused on a separate topic selected by GRECO.
