On 21 September 2026, the Court of Audit of the Federate State of Carinthia hosted the first meeting of the EURORAI working group for peer reviews in Klagenfurt. On behalf of the Court of Audit of the Republic of Slovenia, the meeting was attended by mag. Katja Božič, Advisor to the President of the Court of Audit.
A peer review is an external and independent review of one or more elements of the organisation and/or operation of a Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) by a team of professional peers from one or more SAIs. The nature of a peer review is always voluntary. The purpose of a peer review is to assure quality, to exchange best practices and to enhance further professional and organisational development of audit institutions.
The working group was established on the basis of the results of the EURORAI survey regarding the previous involvement in peer reviews of its member institutions. The survey, which included 42 audit institutions, showed that the Court of Audit of the Republic of Slovenia is one among nine audit institutions with experience in carrying out peer reviews.
At this first meeting, participants from Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Scotland and Spain shared relevant experience and knowledge gained, as well as discussed possibilities for further work of the peer review working group. In this regard, mag. Katja Božič highlighted the Court of Audit’s previous engagement in peer reviews and presented the conclusions of the thematic workshop on peer review fieldwork which was co-organised by EUROSAI and INTOSAI in June 2026 in Warsaw.
The members of the working group will continue to share their experience at their future meetings, thereby considering the possibilities for additional support to EURORAI members in carrying out peer reviews.
