  The key task of the Court of Audit is to review and control the operations of the public funds users. By auditing, it obtains appropriate and sufficient evidence to express an opinion on the operations of an auditee. After the completion of the audit it issues audit report that is submitted to the auditee and the National Assembly and is published on its web site.

- The Court of Audit has a very prominent and active role within the international forums. Such constructive participation is considered an important element of development and strategy-driven approach of the institution, strengthening of cooperation with other supreme audit institutions, broadening of capacities and knowledge and promoting interests of the institution and its international recognition.

- About the Court of Audit
  
  In accordance with the Slovenian Constitution, the Court of Audit is the highest body for supervising state accounts, the state budget and all public spending in Slovenia. The Constitution further provides that the Court of Audit is independent in the performance of its duties and bound by the Constitution and law. The Court of Audit Act also defines that the acts with which Court of Audit exercises its powers of audit cannot be challenged before the courts or other state bodies.

Strategy 2021-2024

The picture portrays the tree symbolising the Strategy of the Court of Audit which is a supreme audit institution that controls the total public spending. The bottom of the picture depicts the tree trunk with roots branched out into three. The first part of the root represents three main values of the Court of Audit, namely independence, objectivity and efficiency. The second part represents the mission of the institution, that is watching over public money and promoting sustainable development of the society. The third part represents the vision of the Court of Audit, which is to maintain highly reputable and respected institution, recognised for its independent, objective and efficient work, its sustainable impact on the society and its solid and strong cooperation with other stakeholders, as well as dynamic internal organisation with highly skilled, competent and efficient employees, and quality work processes. The upper part of the picture portrays the tree crown with branches and leaves representing the strategic priorities and objectives of the Court of Audit. The lower part of the tree crown embraces the principal strategic objective, namely to contribute to the improvement of operations of the users of public funds and to sustainability of society as a whole. The five big leaves represent the five specific objectives of the Strategy, namely: sustainably-oriented institution, outcomes of audit reports, enhancing communication and cooperation with others, quality work processes, motivated and skilled employees

Slovene Court of Audit Strategy 2021 - 2024

The Strategy of the Court of Audit from 2021 to 2024 includes all key strategic priorities and objectives that shall affect the work of the Court of Audit in the future. By implementing audits, our institution aims to achieve the greatest outcomes possible regarding the operations of the users of public funds and the efficient management of public assets, to warn about possible future risks, to ensure sustainability of public finances and to encourage users of public funds and citizens to act in a sustainable manner.

We believe that by achieving the set strategic objectives aimed at increasing the efficiency of operations of the users of public funds and the sustainability of society as a whole we shall continue to benefit all taxpayers and all the users of public funds.

The past two strategies are also available: Strategy of the Court of Audit from 2007 to 2013 and Strategy of the Court of Audit from 2014 to 2020.
